Recently, a family of black-necked cranes was observed foraging leisurely in the wetlands of Xainza County, Nagqu City, the Xizang Autonomous Region at an altitude of 4,700 meters.
The black-necked crane is classified as a national first-class protected wild animal in China and represents a unique species of crane found on the plateau. This bird primarily inhabits wetland environments such as marshes, lakes, and river shoals at altitudes ranging from 2,500 to 5,000 meters. Beginning each April, pairs of black-necked cranes migrate to Xainza County to breed.
In recent years, Xainza County has made significant strides in ecological restoration efforts, successfully expanding wetland areas and improving water quality. These initiatives have created an ideal habitat for black-necked cranes and other rare species.
