Nestled between the Kunlun, Tanggula, and Gangdise mountain ranges, the Changtang region is characterized by its diverse terrain and expansive pastures, an ideal environment for grazing cattle and sheep. For generations, herders in Nagqu, Xizang, have relied on this land for their livelihoods.

Wangchen tends to livestock in Chacang Village, Tsonyi County. In 2018, to enhance efficiency and ensure greater benefits for local families, the village established a cooperative dedicated to raising premium Qiongzong black sheep. Wangchen was employed by the cooperative as a shepherd and received an annual share of the dividends generated from their efforts.
