Yamzhog Yumco Lake, literally means the “turquoise lake” in Tibetan. Located at an elevation of over 4,400 meters, it is one of the three sacred lakes of Xizang. Recently, the Leonids meteor shower peaked this year, with about 15 meteors visible per hour. In early winter, along the shores of Yamzhog Yumco Lake, the Leonids streaked across the highland night sky.

One especially bright meteor lit up the area above the snow-capped mountains near a village by the lake.
