“We didn’t spend a single yuan, yet we have moved into a new house equipped with running water, electricity, sewage systems, and a shower!” said Elder Dasang, his face radiating joy. His family of eight now enjoys a 210-square-meter home, significantly enhancing their living conditions.
On the eve of winter, approximately 200 households—around 1,200 villagers—from Cuobu Village in Lhatse County, Xigaze City, the Xizang Autonomous Region, have moved into spacious and bright new homes. This ensures that residents affected by the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri County can spend the winter in warmth and safety. What brings relief to Dasang is that this public welfare project has built a safety shield for future generations. “Now, whether it’s my children or grandchildren, they no longer need to worry about housing safety during earthquakes or other natural disasters.”
Yomzhong, at the age of 26, runs his own homestay beside Tangra Yumco Lake.
